Women In Wine
Women in Wine (Pty) Ltd. is the first wine-producing company owned,
controlled and managed by a broad base of women.
It opens the portals, for the first time, to a large number of women to participate in the
economic fruits of the South African wine industry.
The company was formed by a group of 20 professional women from different backgrounds
who share not only a link to the Cape Winelands
but also the dream of giving women, especially farm workers and their families,
a share in the industry. About 200 vineyard workers benefit from the
Farm Worker Women’s Trust and has shareholding in Women in Wine (Pty) Ltd.
The main objective of the trust is to empower women through skills
development and training. Women in Wine works in collaboration with
women-owned enterprises under Treasure Chest, an entity established
for the collective marketing and distribution of wines.
